APPEA sets date for next conference

Industry's 60th annual conference to be held next year

The APPEA Conference and Exhibition has traditionally attracted more than 3000 delegates, and this year was expected to be held in Perth in May this year.

Last month APPEA said it would not be able to hold the conference due to the COVID-19 pandemic.

It came as governments rolled out new restrictions on conferences and public gatherings, which at first meant events with more than 500 people would have to be rescheduled, but went as far as to ban meetings of more than two people publicly in the state of Western Australia.

However, a month on, and APPEA has picked a new date for the event, which will still be held in Perth.

It will now be held from June 14 to 17, next year at the Perth Convention and Exhibition Centre.

Planned conference technical and business papers that were already submitted will now be published in the 2020 APPEA Journal to be released in May, the group said.

"Next year, we are excited that we will be able to celebrate the APPEA Conference's 60th anniversary in Perth," APPEA chief Andrew McConville said.

"Such events are critical for the industry to stay informed, do business, find solutions to challenges and find pathways to opportunities."

"So, rest assured, we will be back - bigger and better than ever."

Separate from the conference, APPEA is also planning a series of webinars for members and stakeholders. Further information will be provided in due course.
