Trucking firm Linfox announced last month that it was joining a similar commercial trial of Axiom’s biodiesel.
Upon completion of the Visy trial, Axiom will become the preferred biodiesel supplier for the company’s fleet.
Axiom Energy managing director Danny Goldman said the company was proud to collaborate with a company such as Visy, which he described as a national and international icon for environmental leadership.
“The Visy alliance demonstrates the capacity for biodiesel to become the preferred alternative energy source for commercial operators in Australia,” Goldman said.
The trial will use a biodiesel blend consistent with the Australian Diesel Standard and will monitor the fuel efficiency and overall cost savings of the project.
Visy chairman Raphael Germinder said the company had made it a priority to factor in environmental considerations to its fuel policy.
“Our purpose is to help our customers and consumers make sustainable choices. Therefore, the decision to review our fuel policy to include a sustainable fuel option such as biodiesel forms part of our continued focus on sustainability,” Germinder said.
He said the Axiom partnership allowed Visy to understand the potential cost and quality benefits of biodiesel.
Visy is also a partner in Axiom Energy’s waste plastics to fuel project, which is currently seeking Federal Government excise relief.
Goldman said the announcement of Linfox signing on to its biodiesel trials had led to a number of commercial entities seeking partnerships with Axiom.
