The policy, launched by Suncorp chief executive John Mulcahy and the state's deputy premier Anna Bligh at Parliament House makes Suncorp one of the first top 25 Queensland companies to adopt an ethanol policy.
In May this year, the state government launched the Queensland Ethanol Industry Action Plan 2005 – 2007 by committing A$7.3 million over the next two years to support development of the Queensland ethanol industry.
"This kind of public commitment to an ethanol policy by a major company and major employer is a significant step forward for the ethanol industry," Bligh said.
"It's the first public commitment to the ethanol revolution by a company of this size."
The number of service stations stocking ethanol-blend fuels in Queensland had climbed steadily over the past year, from just 17 in July 2004 to 106, according to Bligh.
Suncorp will also begin a national ethanol information campaign for staff to raise awareness of the benefits of using the renewable fuel in their personal vehicles.
