The service station will supply agricultural biofuels from South Australian Farmers Fuel (SAFF), with the fuel's environmental benefits augmented by an agreement between SAFF and Greening Australia to plant hundreds of thousands of trees to absorb carbon dioxide equivalent to that used in the fuel's creation – making them truly carbon-neutral.
SAFF biofuels are all made from Australian agricultural products and use a proprietary additive to improve fuel economy and provide engine protection for vehicles designed to run on leaded petrol.
SAFF plans to roll out its range of biofuels to other stations across Australia but anticipates production will need to be ramped up to deal with the expected high demand for eco-friendly fuel.
"Only SAFF biofuels are 100% greenhouse-neutral," said SAFF managing director Andy Fischer.
"By blending them with regular petrol and diesel we are cutting greenhouse gas emissions. Our Bio Petrol contains 10% bioethanol made from wheat waste and Premium Diesel contains up to 20% biodiesel made from canola and other oils. This means not only a better fuel for your engine but also cleaner air that is safer to breathe."
