Methanogens (methane-producing bacteria) consume a large portion of the hydrogen produced by clostridia in a natural fermentation process.
Nanologix will use heat to retard this process, the clostridium forming a spore to survive the temperature increase while the methanogens perish.
Nanologix intends to use excess heat from industrial processes to provide the needed temperature increase, allowing the hydrogen production process to remain energy-efficient.
At the end of preliminary studies, Nanologix claims its bioreactor-produced biogas is 50% hydrogen by volume with no methane element present.
