Energy Navigator says it selected Brisbane to further support its existing Australian oil and gas clients, as well as a growing number of Canadian and US companies operating internationally, particularly within APAC.
The company believes it can extend use of its software into regional markets outside of North America from its Brisbane base.
"Exploration and production companies everywhere are under extreme pressure to find operational efficiencies and to ensure they are more reliably evaluating and capitalising on any opportunities that can help them weather the current low price environment," vice president of international business development Janet Tremblay said.
"No matter what region you are operating in, margins are extremely tight.
"We cannot over-emphasise the importance of basing decisions on the most reliable, accurate production forecasts, thorough economic analysis, and continuous monitoring and management of reserves and resources."
She said the company's Value Navigator engineering and reserves system can help developers, and over the past few years the company had made inroads in Australia by striking up business relationships with clients which include one of Australia's larger E&P companies with annual production of over 54 million barrels of oil equivalent, and a smaller producer with some 1.4MMboe annual production.
However, she declined to name both oilers.
