Prelude's firefighting measures

SHELL Australia has awarded Perth-based marine and offshore safety firm Wiltrading a contract to ...

Prelude's firefighting measures

As a selected keystone contractor for Shell Prelude, Wiltrading says it will be responsible for the inspection, maintenance, testing and certification of all firefighting and life-saving appliances on-board the Prelude facility.

It will also provide supervision and technical support to Prelude's technicians and operators.

Wiltrading will also assist Shell with the management of the Planned Maintenance Services through its Safety Services Management System, which will help reduce operational expenditure through the life of the contract.

Services will kick off when the Prelude facility is installed and commissioned off the northwest coast of Western Australia, as Shell's first deployment of its FLNG technology.

Prelude will allow for the production, liquefaction, storage and transfer of LNG at sea, as well as the ability to process and export liquefied petroleum gas and condensate.

Wiltrading general manager Michael Connolly said the win was in step with its strategy of providing a complete safety service offering to the oil and gas market, and illustrated the confidence that Shell Australia shares in his company.

"Given how paramount safety is for the Prelude FLNG facility, we are proud that Shell has entrusted our team to manage its firefighting and life-saving systems," he said.

"This contract demonstrates Wiltrading's ability to perform significant supply and service contracts for large oil and gas companies."
