New hopes for LNG-linked training centre

Like Ichthys operator Inpex, LDC CEO and traditional owner Nigel Browne pointed out that Advanced Training International was the training provider of the 2011-launched Larrakia Trade Training Centre - which received $3 million of funding from the Ichthys joint venture.

"The Larrakia Development Corporation received a letter from ATI at the start of March 2015, notifying of its intention to break its lease agreement," Browne told EnergyNewsBulletin.net.

"The board of the Larrakia Development Corporation accepted the notification and terminated the lease.

"The Larrakia Development Corporation retains ownership of this premium asset at East Arm and is negotiating with other companies on commercial terms."

The LDC also aims to better control the outcomes of the centre in the future.

"While all parties had big ambitions for the training centre, the Larrakia Development Corporation is now focused on achieving employment outcomes it controls, primarily through its new labour hire company, One Key Larrakia," Browne said.
