Woodside builds Applus relationship

WOODSIDE has awarded Applus RTD a two-year frame agreement to supply inspection and integrity man...

The agreement, which has options covering a further two years, follows 25 years of engagement Applus has had with Woodside.

Applus believes it was successful in winning this frame agreement due to its "specific and market leading technical expertise in a wide range of relevant services supported by a leadership team working in close partnership with Woodside focused on achieving continual improvement in efficiency and outcome".

A total of 70 dedicated staff will work on the contract supported by Applus RTD's global resources.

The agreement will encompass Applus RTD's key offerings including conventional and advanced non-destructive testing (NDT), rope access and inspection engineering.

A number of Applus RTD proprietary inspection equipment assets will be utilised in fulfilling this contract, including the recently launched RTD Plant Master technology.

Based on ultrasound, Plant Master is a permanently installed monitoring system which provides continuous wall thickness measurements of critical and hard to access components within refineries, chemical plants, power plants and offshore facilities.

Applus RTD will also employ greater use of remote video assessments and examinations based on past inspection history to ensure that Woodside's operational risk is continuously improved on the project.

Applus RTD regional director Asia Pacific Cameron Waters said that, having worked closely with Woodside for many years, his firm had a "strong understanding" of the LNG player's business and how they could work together most effectively.

"We were tasked with utilising technologies that will continue to reduce costs for Woodside in the current market while continuing to improve safety performance," Waters said.

"We are pleased that we achieved this and our market leading position has been recognised by our client. Our long standing working partnership with Woodside will continue."
