The subsea structures comprise pipeline termination structures (PTS), side stone installation vessel (SSIV) structures, tee protection structures (TPS) and drill centre manifolds, the latter to be installed at a maximum water depth of 240m, weighing up to 564 tonnes.
Installation will be done by Jumbo's Fairplayer, a DP2 heavy lift vessel with two 900t revolving deep-water cranes. Fairplayer is anticipated to start the work offshore WA in April/May 2015.
"After a full summer season operating in the North Sea and Mediterranean, this project enables Jumbo to continue its offshore activities in the Southern Hemisphere," Jumbo said.
Its manager of commerce offshore, Roddy Lafontaine, said the award would allow the company to continue its long standing relationship with Technip in providing unique subsea heavy lift solutions.
Wheatstone will be developed using a subsea gas gathering system that is tied back to the recently installed Wheatstone platform. Gas will be exported from the platform to the onshore LNG facility through a dedicated trunkline. First gas production/LNG start-up is expected next year.
