AGL, Sydney Gas secure new Camden production licence

AGL Energy and Sydney Gas have been awarded a petroleum production licence over a 7.2 square kilometre area in the Camden Gas coal seam methane project, New South Wales.

Sydney Gas said the lease - the sixth under the Petroleum (Onshore) Act 1991 - brings the total number of production leases held by its Camden joint venture with AGL Energy to five.

The five leases - PPLs 1, 2, 4, 5 and 6 - cover an area of about 213.2sq.km.

According to a third quarter activity report released in May this year, 120 wells have been drilled in the project area and 72 are now producing.

Sydney Gas added average production from the Camden JV was 201 terajoules per day of CSM gas - 16% more than a year ago.
