Bringing together oil and gas executives, investors and analysts on May 26 and 27, Excellence in Oil & Gas showcases 32 individual companies' prospects and projects while discussing the future of the industry as a whole. In addition to company presentations, the event offers talks by investment professionals from Martin Place Securities, CommSec and RFC Group.
There will be plenty of interest in the Arc Energy presentation given by managing director Eric Streitberg. Arc is currently in the process of merging with Australian Worldwide Exploration and Arc's Canning Basin assets are to be spun-off into a new company called Buru Energy. Streitberg will be chairman of Buru and a director of AWE, so it will be interesting to see what form his presentation takes.
Leading Australian mid-caps Nexus Energy and Anzon Australia will also be presenting. Nexus has a range of exciting offshore projects in Victorian and Western Australian waters. Delegates will be interested to hear what Basker-Manta-Gummy operator Anzon is planning now that its intended merger with Nexus has fallen through.
Back on dry land, Mosaic Oil will be discussing its ongoing exploration and production work in Queensland's Surat and Bowen basins, while Metgasco and Eastern Star Gas will outline how they are breaking new ground in NSW coal seam methane and why they believe northern NSW will be the country's next major CSM province.
Junior explorers Victoria Petroleum and Bow Energy will outline their work, together and separately, in opening up new CSM acreage and what could be significant new oil trends on the flanks of the Cooper Basin.
Two other companies active in the Cooper, Stuart Petroleum and Cooper Energy, will outline their various successful projects in that region and how they are using their success in the Cooper as a springboard to exploring other regions - in Stuart's case, Bass Strait, and in Cooper's case, Indonesia and Tunisia.
Further afield, inland frontier explorers Central Petroleum and Sapex will discuss their blue sky outback prospects, while Bounty Oil & Gas will give a presentation on its exploration blocks off northwest Australia, off the coast of NSW and in Tanzania, East Africa.
From across the Tasman comes a partner in two major New Zealand petroleum projects (Tui oil and Kupe gas and condensate), New Zealand Oil & Gas, as well as a newcomer, South Island-focused explorer L&M Petroleum.
Two other companies active in a major New Zealand project (Maari oil) are Cue Energy and Horizon Oil. Both of them also have significant interest in other parts of the world. Horizon has a suite of assets in Thailand and China, while Cue is a partner in Indonesia's Oyong oil project and holds interests in discoveries in PNG and exploration blocks in Australia.
While Otto Energy, Oilex and New Guinea Energy are also known for their exploration assets in Asia and PNG, Oilex has joined with Indian majors to explore Oman and offshore Australia, and Otto has gas production in Turkey in partnership with Perth's Incremental Petroleum.
Incremental will also be at Excellence, discussing its success in low-risk, moderate reward oil and gas projects in Turkey, and how it is leveraging this to enter higher reward ventures in the US.
In addition, several other Australian companies active in the US will be presenting, from Gulf Coast veterans Petsec Energy and Amadeus Energy, to comparative newcomers such as Samson Oil & Gas, Salinas Energy, Buccaneer Energy, Elk Petroleum, Target Energy, Antares Energy and Adelphi Energy.
Another long-time US explorer, First Australian Resources, will discuss how it has used its success in Louisiana to help it enter high-impact acreage off the coast of West Africa.
The Excellence in Oil & Gas event also features the Amadeus Energy Legends Breakfast, recognising some of the leaders of the Australian oil and gas industry.
Excellence in Oil & Gas will be held at the Four Seasons Hotel, George St, Sydney on Monday May 26 and Tuesday May 27.
