LNG execs in Australia Day honours

ARTHUR Dixon and Alphonsus D'Souza have been made members in the general division of the Order of Australia in the Australia Day honours for their roles in securing Australia’s first liquefied natural gas export deal with China in 2002.

Dixon and D'Souza were both executives with Australian LNG, the marketing arm of the North West Shelf Venture.

Arthur Dixon, AM of Claremont, Western Australia is the former Perth-based president of Australian LNG. He was granted his honour: “For service to international trade through leadership roles in the energy sector, particularly in the development of a bilateral agreement with China for the supply of liquefied natural gas.”

Alphonsus (Alf) D'Souza is an Indian-born, Australian-trained economist who was Chief Representative of ALNG in Beijing during the lengthy negotiations period. He now lives in Hawthorn Victoria and was granted his honour: “For service to international trade through the energy sector as a contributor to the development of a bilateral agreement with China for the supply of liquefied natural gas.”
