This expansion comes on the back of PSN securing two oil and gas engineering contracts on Sakhalin Island, in Russia’s Siberia.
In a new joint venture – Sakhalin Technical Services Network (STSN) – PSN and partner TransStroy Sakhalin have signed a multi-million dollar contract with a major operator on Sakhalin Island.
This award supplements PSN’s recently acquired contract to supply technical support services as Sakhalin Energy Investment Company.
The company said that, taken together, the contracts were worth more than $A100 million and had firmly established PSN in the Siberian market.
PSN Australia Director, Dave Irvine, said the creation of the 100 specialist roles would support the project management and technical engineering in one of the world’s newest and most challenging petroleum basins.
“PSN engineers in Melbourne will be supporting our customers in the multi-billion dollar development of Russian oil and gas reserves in an area which is covered in Arctic ice for six months of the year,” Irvine said.
“We have the world’s best oil and gas engineering talent here in Australia and PSN will be recruiting specialist project engineers, mechanical and electrical engineers, quality and lead engineers as well as senior procurement advisors.”
PSN activities in Melbourne will include improving the performance of oil and gas facilities, both onshore and offshore, modifying pipelines and structures, reducing risk and enhancing safety for production facilities, making modifications to help reduce projects’ environmental impacts, providing training and advising procedural changes.
In Australia, PSN employs over 600 people in a range of engineering services for Bass Strait oil and gas producers as well as the Western Australian Water Corporation.
