METHANOL Australia says a 2D seismic acquisition over its Blackwood structure in its 100%-owned Timor Sea exploration permit NT/P68 is due to finish today.

Timor Sea seismic survey ends today: Methanol

The Melbourne-based company yesterday said Compagnie Generale de Geophysique Group’s vessel had acquired about 74% of the data for the 600 line kilometre 2D seismic survey and progress remains on schedule.

Complete acquisition of the 2D data is expected to be completed today.

Methanol said the new “excellent quality” 2D infill data would be combined with the extensive 1996 and 1997 2D grid already over the permit.

It said the new data will improve the structural mapping of Blackwood and is expected to confirm the final location of the Blackwood-1 exploration well, planned to be drilled next year.
