The well is currently flowing a daily cumulative rate of about 7 million cubic feet of gas and 180 barrels of oil condensate.
Further testing of the Webernick-1 well at the Mesquite Prospect is planned to start in the next few weeks, the Perth-based company said.
Current sales from the prospect are 13 million cubic feet of gas and 275 bbls of condensate per day.
Meanwhile, a 7 5/8-inch liner has been set at a depth of 10,500 feet (3000m) in the Webernick-2 well, also at the Mesquite Prospect. Preparations are now underway to drill into the well’s primary objectives, Strike said.
The well, which is designed to test the Wilcox Formation Sands, has a planned total depth of 12,300 feet.
Strike has a 26.25% working interest in the project and a 20% net revenue interest.
In other company news, Strike was the winner of an environment award at the annual APPEA conference, as reported by EnergyReview.net on Monday.
The company was recognised in the 'exploration' category for its efforts to eliminate many of the environmental risks while it worked in the eco-sensitive Exmouth Gulf in Western Australia during the drilling of the Cooper 1 well in 2004-05.
“The company recognises the protection of the environment is of paramount importance in all its areas of operation but working in the Exmouth Gulf and adjacent to the Ningaloo Marine Park required even greater planning and diligence,” managing director Simon Ashton said.
“This award is due recognition by our peers and a testimony to the effort by the team at Strike, its advisers and the previous operator, Victoria Petroleum.”
Meanwhile, ATP-633P operator Beach Petroleum has completed the Gukithi 2D seismic survey, according to Strike, which has the option to acquire up to 15% working interest in this permit.
The survey will help Beach develop an appraisal and production program for the Gidgee oil prospect, from which an exploration well drilled in 1989 tested more than 1000 bbls of oil per day.
The main prospects in the permit are immediately south and up-dip of an oil field complex, which is connected to the Jackson-to-Moonie oil pipeline. The Tickalara Oil Field within this complex reportedly contains more than 11 million bbls of recoverable oil, according to Strike.
