Aker Kvaerner Subsea and FMC Technologies will discuss their new technologies, following a collective presentation by three major operators – BHP Billiton, Chevron and Woodside – about their needs and problems in this area.
The AKS presentation will focus on the development of their subsea booster, which is suitable for operations where higher gas oil ratios make conventional centrifugal pumps inoperable or inefficient. AKS claimed this pump was well suited to lower pressure fields with variable oil and gas flows or fields nearing the end of economic life.
FMC Technologies will then present an update of the company’s subsea processing gas compression technologies being developed and supplied for the Tordis and Ormen Lange development, which both have their own unique and challenging requirements, said the company.
SUT said the industry had traditionally been reluctant to adopt subsea and downhole processing systems, due to higher repair costs and added risk of lost production, compared with that of fixed or floating facilities.
The seminar will be held on Wednesday, October 12 from 6pm at the Melbourne Hotel, corner of Hay and Milligan Street, Perth.
