Eastern Star said Chris Ryan was until 2000 a director and head of propriety trading in Treasury for ABN AMRO Bank, and subsequently managing director of CapX Limited, a specialist private equity investment company.

He replaces independent director Pat Elliot who retired last year. ESG managing director Dennis Morton said he would be managing the company’s relationships with the markets and financial circles.
