Origin plans power station for Spring Gully gas fields

ORIGIN Energy has applied to the Queensland Government to build a natural gas-fired power station...

Bungil Shire Mayor Robert Loughnan told ABC News that 300 to 400 people would be needed to build the power station and that Origin had a good track record in the area.

"Origin has gone to a lot of lengths to try and make sure that this isn't going to affect many of the neighbours," he said.

"It has actually bought a number of properties in the region. So the noise and other issues that could come from a power station development should not impact on this particular site.

"They've also gone to great lengths to be a good corporate citizen, they've actually paid Bungil Shire in the vicinity of $1.4 million to rebuild the access road."
