Amity Oil becomes Antares Energy

Managing director Howard McLaughlin said it was a ‘fait accompli’ that Amity Oil’s shareholders would accept the motion to rename the company Antares Energy, the name the company uses in the US, its new area of focus.

McLaughlin said there were too many skeletons in Amity’s closet and the name change would reflect the entirely different company it had become in the last 12 months.

“It is time to put distance between the Amity of old and the new company we have become,” McLaughlin told EnergyReview.Net on Friday.

Amity yesterday also announced a 20% farmin to the Wilbeck prospect held by Crawford Energy of Houston, Texas. It said the prospect was defined by 3D seismic, with significant reserve potential of between 5-17 BCF of gas and 50,000 to 170,000 bbls of oil.

Amity said the Wharton County prospect was on trend with several producing fields with drilling expected between late December and early January, depending on rig availability.
