"There were some matters the auditor-general raised with the government (before Mr Maddock's death) and the government has taken appropriate action in relation to those matters," Beattie told journalists on the Gold Coast.
"At the appropriate time, I will report to the parliament and the auditor-general will report to the parliament."
Police have been told that Maddock was being treated for clinical depression, while a close relative described him as ‘unwell’ to Brisbane’s Courier Mail yesterday, but said there had been no indication he was suicidal.
Maddock was aware of the Treasury investigation into his alleged misappropriation of funds, intensifying the pressure he was under to implement the recommendations of July's Somerville report into the state's troubled power distribution system.
The body of Maddock, 50, was found on railway tracks at Wilston Station in Brisbane's inner north last Friday. Police say there is no doubt the death was a suicide.
