AWE field moves into FEED: video

Synergy Engineering has been awarded the engineering services contract for the Lengo FEED.

Indonesian-based survey contractor Java Offshore has commenced the geophysical and geotechnical surveys at the platform site, the proposed platform-to-shore pipeline route and the onshore receiving terminal location.

The Lengo gas accumulation is located in the Bulu PSC, which covers 697 square kilometres over the East Java Basin in water depths of 50-60m.

The development plan was approved by the Indonesian authorities in late 2014 and comprises four development wells, an unmanned wellhead platform and a 65km-long export pipeline to transport the gas to shore.

The JV is in negotiations over gas sales and production is expected to begin about two years after the joint-venture partners announce a final investment decision.

The field will produce 70 million cubic feet per day at plateau.

"We are making good headway on the Lengo development," KrisEnergy director Chris Gibson-Robinson said.

"The surveys, which include a geotechnical borehole survey at the location of the production facilities, will provide important site-specific data for the next phase of engineering. The FEED will define the wellhead platform, export pipeline and onshore receiving facility for the ensuing engineering, procurement, construction and installation bidding phase."

The Lengo gas development marks the first step in AWE and KrisEnergy's ambitions to develop substantial oil and gas assets offshore East Java, where both have substantial assets.

Lengo is owned by KrisEnergy (42.5%, operator), AWE (42.5%) and Indonesian firms Satria Energindo (10%) and Satria Wijayakusuma (5%).

KrisEnergy wants to use Lengo as an aggregation hub in the East Java Sea, possibly using the adjacent East Muriah and Sakti PSCs.

AWE is also in East Muriah (50%) and has the adjacent Titan PSC (40%), 100% of the nearby Terembu PSC and 50% of the North Madura PSC.

It is also developing the Ande Ande Lumut oil project with Santos in the Northwest Natuna Sea, Indonesia.
