Three deaths in tugboat tragedy

According to official Chinese news service, Xinhua, only three of the 25 people on board survived. The three survivors were Chinese nationals.

Eight of those that died were foreign nationals, four of which were Singaporean, one was Malaysian, one Indonesian, one Japanese and one Indian.

According to Channel News Asia, SembCorp said it lost 53-year-old assistant manager Baginda Ali Bin Zainul Abidin (Indonesian), 41-year-old chief engineer Aif Rifadi and 27-year-old operations executive Bernard Chung Wai Kian (Singaporean).

"Management remains in touch with their families and will do our utmost to comfort, assist and support them during their grief and bereavement," Sembcorp said.

The tug boat was planned to be a charter vessel for Jurong.
