Wood Group enters Malaysia

MAJOR services company Wood Group has entered the Malaysian market after winning a contract to deliver brownfield engineering, procurement and construction management to support ExxonMobil's offshore operations there.

Wood Group, which has roughly $US7 billion ($A8.4 billion) sales with some 40,000 employees across 50 countries, scored the multi-year contract from ExxonMobil Exploration and Production Malaysia.

The EPCM work will be carried out by engineering services company Wood Group PSN in collaboration with project solutions business Wood Group Mustang.

Wood Group PSN Australia & Asia Pacific managing director Andrew Stewart said the contract would enable the company to position itself in the "exciting" Malaysian market.

Wood Group said it had a long term commitment to the Asia Pacific region where it currently employs over 2000 people providing full lifecycle services to the energy industry.

These services range from concept, FEED and detailed design through to maintenance and decommissioning activities.
