The company's aim is to help PetroChina achieve expanded natural gas flow through the pipeline branch, which transports 17 billion cubic metres of gas per year and connects west to east pipelines 1 and 2.

In total, the two pipelines transport up to 47Bcm of gas per year.

Included in the supply deal are an additional two RB211 gas turbine driven pipeline compressor units, bringing the total number of units sold for installation on China and central Asia's pipelines to 70.

Rolls Royce hopes to continue its expansion in China across its aerospace, marine, energy and civil nuclear markets.
