Brehon Energy has entered into a memorandum of understanding with four leading Chinese groups to convert 10,000 buses to hythane – a mix of methane and hydrogen – before the start of the 2008 Beijing Olympics.

Brehon bought the rights to hythane from its US developer. Eden Energy – a subsidiary of Tasman Resources – is currently acquiring a 20% interest in Brehon and a 49% interest in Brehon Far East Pty Ltd, through which the Chinese bus conversion project will be undertaken.

Eden Energy chairman Greg Solomon said he was optimistic that success in the Beijing project would lead to further contracts in Shanghai and other Chinese cities.
