In a statement IMB Malaysia Regional Office Head Noel Choong said, “It is difficult to say how many groups are actually out there, but the modus operandi is similar, so it is likely that they are one and the same.”

“We don’t know whether these culprits are Free Aceh Movement (GAM) rebels, militants, terrorists, or syndicates. It is all a big question mark at the moment,” he added.

There have been seven confirmed such incidences since May.
