IOC commissions pipeline

Indian Oil Corp (IOC) has announced the commissioning of a 160km petroleum products pipeline which connects Rewari to the IOC refinery at Panipat.

In a statement IOC said, “The pipeline, which cost Rs 76 crore (US$16.6 million), will form part of IOC’s other pipeline projects linked to the expansion of the Panipat refinery, including the conversion of the 1,443 Kandla – Bhatinda product pipeline into a crude transporting pipeline.”

“The Panipat – Rewari pipeline traverses through the Panipat, Sonepat, Rohtak, Jhajjar and Rewari districts in Haryana [and] passes through four major perennial river and canals, which were crossed through horizontal directional drilling,” it added.

The Panipat refinery is being expanded in order to be able to process 12 million tonnes per annum. It currently can process only half the amount.
