An anonymous insider within the firm, speaking to The China Daily, said, “We are very confident we will become the builder of the Shanghai LNG terminal in a joint venture with the municipal government.”

“The local Shanghai government [is] expected to take a controlling stake of more than 50% in the project, which has been approved by [the] National Development and Reform Commission,” added the source.

China’s first LNG terminal, in Guangdong, is slated for completion next year. Prepatory work is currently being undertaken at the second terminal in Fujian. The third will be built in Zhejiang.
