Timor Leste on show at OSEA

OSEA 2004, Asia’s leading oil and gas event, will see the coming together of government representatives, investors, key players from the industry and over 1,000 firms like 3M Technologies, Bluewater Energy, GE Supply, J Ray McDermott, Keppel Marine & Offshore, Kongsberg Maritime and more from over 50 countries taking part.

OSEA 2004 will also see the return of the Philippine National Oil Co and, for the first time ever, official delegates from the Timor Leste government.

The Timor Leste delegation will be attending OSEA 2004 to promote its new Petroleum Mining Code and a model PSC which allows “qualified companies” to develop resources in areas outside the Joint Petroleum Development Area. This, according to the Timor Leste government, would allow for what it calls an “internationally competitive and transparent regime for the development of petroleum in Timor Leste”.

According to Timor Leste PM Mari Alkatiri, “Now we are providing an opportunity for investors, civil society and other interested parties to review and comment on what we have developed.”

More than 10,000 visitors are expected and delegates attending the conference will be able to network, source out new technologies and pursue possible business partnerships.
