TNK-BP, Gazprom Kovykta deal almost complete

According to TNK-BP’s Russian co-owner Viktor Vekselberg, “We have agreed that Gazprom would be one of the main exporters of gas from Kovykta on a commission basis.”

Company Chief Executive, Robert Dudley, was a lot more diplomatic. According to Dudley, “The dialogue with Gazprom was constructive. We hope to have an agreement on the principles of our cooperation on Kovykta by the end of July.”

“TNK-BP was ready to give up [our] export hopes if [we were] offered an economically viable scheme of gas purchase by Gazprom, which would remain the sole export channel,” added Dudley.
