China looking to join Sakhalin-2

In a statement the head of China’s State Development and Reform Committee Jiang Weixing said, “[My] country wants to participate in, and receive gas from, the Sakhalin-2 project.”

“The Chinese market is the best for Sakhalin gas,” added Jiang who made the announcement following a meeting with the Governor of Sakhalin Island Ivan Malakhov.

SEI is a JV between Royal Dutch/Shell, Mitsui and Mitsubishi set up to develop the Piltun-Astokhskoye and Lunskoye fields in the Sea of Okhotsk off the east coast of Sakhalin.
