Scomi spokesperson, Rohaida Ali Baharuddinin, denied any wrong doing on the part of Scomi and SCOPE and said, "SCOPE had manufactured the parts in good faith when it sold the components to Dubai-based gulf Technical Industries L.L.C" (GTI) and that it was to the understanding of SCOPE that the components were earmarked for the oil and gas industry.

"If these parts were eventually used for centrifuges, then GTI has mislaid SCOPE [and] since machines used in the oil and gas industry required thousands of aluminium and steel components, the company has no reason to believe that the parts would be used for other purposes," she added.
