"The company's generation capacity improved significantly due to the contribution from newly productive power generating units including the Shandong Jining Power Plant," Huaneng said in a release. It also confirmed that its recently acquired power plants - the Shanxi Yushe and the Shandong Xindian - helped to boost figures.

Huaneng now owns and operates 14 power plants and has controlling stakes in five more throughout the country. Its total power generation capacity now stands at around 15,936 MW per annum.
