Gas Malaysia looks forward

Gas Malaysias new chief executive has set lofty growth targets for the utility firm.

According to Muhamad Noor Hamid, Gas Malaysia will more than double its annual revenue to RM1 billion (US$263 million) in five year’s time. He also pledges that company will triple its gas pipelines during that time.

The RM1 billion target, according to Muhamad, will be achieved by increasing Gas Malaysia’s customer base. “We plan to increase the number of our industrial customers from the current 261 to 640 in the next five years and this will contribute to us achieving our target revenue,” said Muhamad.

“The company has [also] invested about US$105 million in pipelines since it started operations in 1992, and we expect to invest US$53 million annually [to triple our current 830 km of pipeline to about 2,400 km] in the next five years,” added Hamid.
