With its attendance at Australasian Oil and Gas this year, the Aberdeen-based company is fast making inroads to the Asian oil and gas market and is already in discussions with several operators and contractors working in the region.
During the four-week contract with Shell, Duffy & McGovern will supply three eight-man cabins to the FPSO Fluminense which is currently being converted from a 27-year old crude oil tanker in Singapore.
The project is an international effort – the conversion of the vessel is taking place at the Jurong shipyard, Singapore; the FPSO and related subsea equipment is being designed and built MODEC in Houston and the final destination of the FPSO Fluminense will be the Bijupira and Salema fields in the Campos Basin, Brazil. Shell became operator of the Bijupira and Salema project after taking over UK independent, Enterprise Oil, in 2002.
Commercial Director of Duffy & McGovern, Craig Russell, said: “This particular contract demonstrates Duffy & McGovern’s global capabilities. With our office in Houston, contacts in Singapore and sales and service in Brazil, we have proved that we are now a major player in the global marketplace.
