According to Chaudhry Nouraiz, "Pakistan and Iran [have] agreed to go ahead with gas pipeline project, and [keep] the option to extend it up to India open. Iran would bring the gas pipeline up to Pakistan-Iran border from where Pakistan would take up the project to meet its energy requirements and if need be the same could be extended to India once they decide to do so."

"The option of extending other gas pipelines up to India, including Iranian and the one coming from Central Asian States [will] also stay open," added the minister, who said that a joint Pakistan-Iran working group meeting would be held soon the finalise all matters that both countries have already agreed to in principle.
