He also believes that the area is also suitable for other downstream activities related to the offshore oil and gas fabrication industry and as a model for the maritime industry.

The chief minister considers the corridor, between Teluk Ramunia near Pengerang to Pasir Gudang in Johor Bahru, is ideal for the industry and already has several well-established fabrication companies already there. However, Abdul Ghani feels that the onus is on the existing fabrication companies to plan for the expansion.

Pengerang is located in the southeast of the Malaysian state of Johor and enjoys a strategic geographical location with a natural enclave that faces the South China Sea.
