BKPM director Johnny W. Situmorang has revealed that more than one hundred companies are planning to leave Indonesia by year's end because of the unattractive investment climate, legal uncertainties, labour disputes, haphazard implementation of the regional autonomy program and inadequate security measures. Most of the departing companies are moving to China and Vietnam.
While these companies were not named, 40% of them are believed to be Japanese firms. Japanese companies represent the largest investors in Indonesia.
