Loy Yang revenue dives

Now that AGL has been cleared to purchase its share of the Loy Yang Power Station it appears a fair bit of work could be needed to turn the station's financials around. The generator's revenue for the December quarter dived by 25% due to lower pool prices and the group's increased exposure to the spot market.

Loy Yang revenue dives

Generation revenue fell to $110.4 million for the three months to December 31, 2003 down from $147.6 million previously, while total revenue for the period came in at $123.5 million compared to $161.5 million in the three months to December 31, 2002.

Total power generation sold fell to 3,240 gigawatt hours (GWh) compared to 3,714 GWh previously.

Loy Yang has an estimated debt of about $3 billion including a $500 million loan repayment due on February 12, however the partners are confident of getting a fourth extension, putting the due date back to March 12, allowing the company to complete the sale of Loy Yang to the AGL consortium, the Great Energy Alliance Corporation (GEAC).
