More than 100 delegates have already registered for the Australian Petroleum Production and Exploration Association's (APPEA) 2003 Environment Workshop to be held at Fremantle's Esplanade Hotel on Tuesday 11 November and Wednesday 12 November.
The environment-focused workshop - with the theme "Finding Solutions to Real Issues" - brings together representatives from the oil and gas industry, government bodies and non-government organisations, with speakers drawn from industry professionals, government decision makers and key environmental organisations.
The workshop will highlight the central importance of environmental considerations to the sustainable development of Australia's natural resources, and will explore current issues and enable direct communication between interested parties.
The Hon Dr Judy Edwards, MLA, WA Minister for the Environment and Heritage Water Resources, will address the workshop on Tuesday morning.
"This workshop provides an unparalleled opportunity for companies and individuals to network with specialists in the field," APPEA's Executive Director, Mr Barry Jones, said today.
"Sustainable development and corporate stewardship of the environment are integral to company decision-making," Mr Jones said.
"The oil and gas industry in Australia is committed to contributing to the conservation of biodiversity and protection of the environment through responsible management of operations and impacts.
