RWO develops onboard demineralisation plant

Water engineering specialists, RWO Water Technology has developed a solution to meet the strict water quality requirements needed by turbine manufacturers, a demineralisation plant with polisher downstream.

Turbine Drives are very clean, generate hardly any dirt, and are especially suitable for large cruising ships. However, they require very high quality water, which cannot be produced by on-board sea water desalination plants.

The demineralisation plant developed by RWO works on the principle of ion exchangers and will be installed in compact design.

"The turbine drive is more and more going to replace the good old diesel engine on cruising ships," RWO managing director Helmut Werle.

"Small wonder because the large shipping companies and the shipyards nowadays also have an eye on the environmental results."
