While other contractors have been in the doldrums since 11 September, United Group officials said its good performance was due to an increasingly diversified revenue stream that includes maintenance, facilities management, manufacturing, fabrication and construction.
United KG, the group's construction and maintenance arm saw its revenue climb from $83 million to $222 million. Its order book hit $338 million, due primarily to its joint venture with Kellog to supply pipe spooling for the $2.4 billion Woodside LNG plant expansion.
Share market investors responded positively to the United results, sending its stock up 25c to finish at $3.26.
