Oil Movement Manager added to Advanced Blend Control 2.0

Power and automation technology group ABB has released Optimise IT Advanced Blend Control 2.0 whi...

Advanced Blend Control is typically used in refinery and terminal blending operations. It downloads approved perpetual and non-perpetual movement orders to the Oil Movement Executor for execution.

Oil Movement Manager tracks tank composition and performs tank quality information calculation on active movements. Release 2.0 also includes blend additives handling and crude solver for crude blending.

The new release allows planning and operations personnel to create, optimise, execute and store individual blend orders for the product. It can also blend orders from off-line planning and scheduling systems.

Optimise IT Advanced Blend Control has been installed and is now operational at the Preem plant in Gothenburg, Sweden.

"Advanced Blend Control has reduced gasoline blend production time by more than 30% because frequent blend pauses due to header sampling and correction of blends are no longer necessary," Blend System engineer Tomas Astrom, in the Blend Operations Group at the Preem refinery in Sweden, said.

"Advanced Blend Control automatically corrects the blend recipe based on analyser feedback, and so most blends are produced with no violation and minimum giveaway in RON, MON and RVP."

The benefits of Optimise IT Advanced Blend Control are in the range of 10 to 25 cents per barrel, said ABB, and this is achieved through reductions in giveaway, blended product cost, reblending, inventory and demurrage.

Advanced Blend Control provides nonlinear, single or multi-period optimisation using industry-standard or site-specific blend property models and any number or types of online analysers.
