According to the Australian Financial Review, a briefing session will be held in Melbourne today to discuss possible changes in the gas trading system operated by VENcorp.
The meeting will consider a proposal to move from daily pricing of natural gas to hourly pricing, in line with the pricing mechanism in the electricity market.
The ACCC recently recommended that VENcorp investigate the potential costs and benefits of a move to hourly pricing.
Victorian Energy Minister Theo Theophanus told the paper that the review aimed to make the gas market more responsive to growing demand by electricity generators and other large users.
