According to Purnomo, "The world oil price tends to increase. Therefore the government is optimistic to get a surplus on the assumption of the oil price on the draft of 2004 state budget, which is US$22 per barrel."

Purnomo is optimistic that the world price of oil would continuously increase by the end of the year and he feels that it could go higher. To Purnomo, the call by OPEC – to be tabled at the next OPEC meeting in December – could see the price of oil go up by US$25 to US$32 per barrel.

Current world prices are between US$27 and US$28 per barrel.
