BP has been fined $6,000 and ordered to pay $23,000 in legal costs after being found guilty of de...

The company admitted that it had refused to supply unleaded petrol to two independent retailers during the WA State Government's bid to fix the maximum wholesale fuel price in 2001.

Magistrate Frank Cullen said the company had deliberately avoided the provisions in the Petroleum Products Pricing Act designed to increase transparency in the pricing regime.

BP is the first company to be convicted under the laws although Mobil is set to face similar allegations early next year.
