It will supply the Maroochy Shire Council's seven caravan parks, two sewage treatment plants, works depots, major water treatment plant and hotmix plant.
"Apart from significant savings on the price of gas, consolidating all our gas requirements with Origin Energy has resulted in considerable operational improvements and administrative efficiencies by reducing account management costs," contracts manager, Mick Fullelove said.
Origin Energy provided additional value with advice and expertise on reconfiguring the bulk gas storage and delivery system at the Image Flat Asphalt Plant.
This reconfiguration has improved plant start up during cold weather, an ongoing issue for the plant's operation. It has also been modified to enable it to run on either LP Gas or Auto Mix.
The gas supply contract also included a safety inspection and report by Origin Energy on the Council's gas facilities to ensure compliance with the Gas Act. This inspection and report has allowed the Council to meet its corporate governance responsibilities in the gas safety area.
