Energy players prepared for danger: KPMG

A KPMG survey finds that energy companies are among the most proactive organisations in terms of ...

While 21% of all respondents to KPMG’s web-based Global Assignment Policies and Practices Survey had not yet implemented an assignee-specific emergency plan, every one of the energy sector respondents had implemented such a plan.

In addition, 53% of the energy respondents had contracted a service provider for emergency evacuations or assistance compared to a 30% average among participants in general.

The remaining 47% of energy companies said they had a global (not location-specific) plan in place.

When asked for their likely response to perceived increases in danger for assignees abroad, 46% of respondents said they would reduce the number of their assignees in the region, while 43% said they would increase their emergency planning. Only 21% said they would reduce operations in high risk locations, 26% said they would rely more on local nationals, and 13% said they would not take any of these actions.
