The online data source contains project information on every wave and tidal energy project currently on-going and provides data as diverse as location, cost, capacity, output and the like.
In a statement the company said, “The World Wave and Tidal Database is part of Douglas-Westwood’s The World series of databases and reports, which includes the highly successful World Offshore Wind Database used by departments of government and the major industry contractors, developers and suppliers.”
DWL’s Renewables Data Manager, Adam Westwood, believes the online database will prove a boon to the sector. According to Westwood, “The wave and tidal current stream industries are now generating a huge amount of interest, recent installations have demonstrated the true energy potential of the oceans, and the potential for investors and manufacturers to become involved in this exciting sector.”
At the launch, the company also announced its upcoming 2004 renewable energy databases. Amongst these include The World Onshore Wind Database, which is said to include comprehensive and detailed wind farm information to and is designed to keep tabs on every operational and planned wind farm to date.
